7th Grade Reading

Week of September 5th 

 

Academic Standards

Reading Comprehension,

Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it.  

Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

Vocabulary-Students will expand their working vocabularies to effectively communicate and understand texts. 

 

 

Skills :

Student will analyze details in literary and nonfiction/information texts to distinguish genres.

Students will develop and strengthen writing by engaging in recursive process that includes prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing.

Student will apply components of a recursive writing process for multiple purposes to create a focused, organized and coherent piece of writing. 

Students will expand academic, domain-appropriate, grade-level vocabularies through reading, word study, and class discussion.

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, Introduce Vocabulary of the Week, Go over visualization in reading.  Homework: Study words and continue reading Hatchet 

Wednesday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, visualization Work Sheet. Continue reading Hatchet. 

Thursday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, Check Hatchet Journals, Go over Vocabulary, review visualization while reading for test.   

Friday

Test over Words of the Week and visualization. Journals, assign Book Reports due week of October 9th, 2017. 

 

 

Story:

Hatchet

Homework:

 The students have until October 5, to complete the book. There is a daily writing journal to go along with daily reading from the book. That averages 4.3 pages per day.

*Study vocabulary words and meanings for test on Friday.
