Reading Comprehension,

Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it.  

Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

 

 

Skills :

Student will analyze details in literary and nonfiction/information texts to distinguish genres.

Students will develop and strengthen writing by engaging in recursive process that includes prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing.

Student will apply components of a recursive writing process for multiple purposes to create a focused, organized and coherent piece of writing.

Monday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, Introduce the story Hatchet (Pre-Reading activity), discuss reading journal and how to use, assign book, discuss vocabulary

Tuesday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, Packet of reading comprehension (pages 1-2) and to read aloud starting Chapter 1 page 1-8.

Wednesday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, Continue work on packet (3-5), and read aloud pages 9-12 in Hatchet.

Thursday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension, Check Hatchet Journals, Go over Vocabulary start definitions, from story. Review chapter 1.

Friday

Bell Ringer: Reading Comprehension writing check, quiz over Hatchet chapter 1.

Chapters/Pages Covered This Week:

We will start in Chapter 1 and should finish it this week. The students have until October 5, to complete the book. There is a daily writing journal to go along with daily reading from the book. That averages 4.3 pages per day.
