World Geography (Western Hemisphere)

Syllabus

Dear Students and Families,

 

  Welcome to Waurika Middle School and 6th grade World History.  I am Ms. McCarter and I am going to be your teacher.  I am familiar with most of you and I am pretty sure you remember me.  I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to your World History course and my expectations of you this year.

 

  Students will be successful in this course if we collaborate to motivate and encourage success.  Therefore, I will welcome any and every opportunity to meet with students and their families throughout the semester.  If you would like to schedule an appointment to meet with me please email me at tmccarter@waurikaschools.org, or call me at school or my number is 580-313-0763.

 

  In 6th grade World Geography we will be exploring the geographical regions of the Western Hemisphere.  Assessments will include journal entries, take home work, end of section quizzes, end of chapter tests, and various writing assignments.  To do well in this class the student will need to bring the correct materials to class daily, follow my instructions, complete homework assignments on time, and follow the rules of the classroom.

 

Materials to be brought to class daily:

 Spiral notebook ( your journal)

 2 inch binder to put your handouts in.

 Pencils

 Red pen.

 Text book

 

 

 

Class Rules:

 Be honest

 Be responsible

 Be respectful

 

 

Discipline Plan Steps:  (situation determines the order in which the steps will be followed)

 

Warning and conference with the student

Phone call / Email home or parent conference

Referral to the office

 

I will strictly follow the rules in the school handbook.  Please read over these and adhere to them.  There will not be cell phones or iPods in my classroom.  If I see one your parents will have to come to the school and get it back for you.  Leave them in your locker.
